Kris and Brown were best friends and the friend’s children, who now include some of the most high-profile television personalities in the world Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, would often play and holiday together.
Brown, 35, and her friend Ronald Goldman were murdered in her California home in 1994. Her ex-husband the athlete Simpson was found not guilty in the criminal case. He was later found liable for their deaths in a civil suit brought against him by the families of Brown and Goodman. Simpson is currently serving a prison sentence for different crimes.
Kris was friends with both Brown and Simpson. Her ex-husband Robert Kardashian was a good friend of Simpson and represented him as his defence attorney during the 1995 court case which was sensationally dubbed at the time “the trial of the century”.
Kris along with her then husband Bruce Jenner, who is now Caitlyn, spoke to Good Morning America a week ahead of the verdict, reports the Huffington Post.
Asked whether Kris discussed the court case with her ex-husband Kardashian, who passed away from cancer in 2003, she said she doesn’t.
“The only thing I discuss with him is the children… we don’t get into it because I think what would happen is, our opinions are so obviously so black and white so what good is it going to do?”
Kris also told the reporter Simpson had called her from jail and maintained his innocence while Caitlyn added there “has to be justice for this case”.
Kris, who is portrayed by actress Selma Blair in The People vs OJ Simpson series, recently told how she “beat herself up” after learning of the domestic violence Brown suffered.
“My heart breaks because of all the pain and suffering she went through. I wish I had noticed the signs. She was fighting for her life many days I’m sure”, the 60-year-old said.
The Kardashian-Jenner family have risen to prominence in the years since the trial after their reality television show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which is now in its 11th season, catapulted them to fame in 2007. Kris is the manager (and often dubbed ‘momager’) of Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Kendall and Kylie Jenner who have all had successful career and business ventures as a result of the show.
The ten-part drama of The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story will be aired on BBC Two this month.
