This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

Despite being a member of one of the most talked about families in the public eye, it appears Kourtney Kardashian’s PR strategy was not completely finalised before her latest live interview.

The reality TV star was appearing on Australian television via video link when she was asked by the presenter how her sister Kim was doing after she was allegedly robbed at gunpoint in Paris at the beginning of the month.

“Ummm,” the 37-year-old began before she was seen looking at somebody else in the room back in Los Angeles. A bizarre silence then ensued as Kardashian looked blankly beyond the camera and muttered something about “someone just [having] come in” while the presenters looked around awkwardly.

“Hello Kourtney have we lost you?” Today Extra host David Campbell asked just before the silence became unbearable and Kardashian’s face disappeared offscreen.

“I think she’s blanking me, she’s totally blanking me on that question,” Campbell told his co-host Sonia Kruger. “She could just say her sister is fine! I think we just said that you know we’re very concerned and we were onside and we hope everyone’s fine which we still do.”

After an ad break, however, Kardashian re-appeared saying they experienced a “bad connection” and gave an update on her sister’s wellbeing, reports news.com.au.

“She’s not doing great. I think we’re all really still shaken up,” she said. “I think she has a big supportive family and I know that all the traumatic things that we’ve been through, we get through them together as a family and that’s what family is all about.”

Kim has not spoken to the press or updated her social media channels since the robbery. On Monday, her assistant posted an update on her subscription-based app to tell fans the 35-year-old will be taking “some much needed time off” from personally updating the app.

The businesswoman’s other sister Khloe gave the first update on Kim last week, telling The Ellen Show what happened was a “wake up call to make a lot of life adjustments”.

A representative for Kardashian did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
