Kanye West, Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa was the Twitter feud where nobody came out on top

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The latest spat began when Kanye West appeared to misjudge a tweet from fellow rapper Wiz Khalifa. Firing back in typical West style, he couldn’t help but to include both he and Khalifa’s ex-partner Amber Rose in the onslaught.
West told Khalifa, “You let a stripper trap you” referring to Rose’s previous occupation in a now deleted tweet. In a similarly distasteful way, he then referenced the two-year-old child Rose and Khalifa have together somehow suggesting Khalifa wouldn’t have a son if it wasn’t for him.
Rose has previously publicly accused West of slut-shaming her after he made an infamous remark about having to take “30 showers” before dating Kim Kardashian after Rose.
She hit back at her former boyfriend on Twitter with a graphic jibe aimed at West allegedly about their sex life when they were a couple, which led to her then being accused by some on the social networking site of homophobia.
For anyone confused, the bizarre feud began when Khalifa referred to West’s much-anticipated album Waves, which was previously called Swish. Khalifa claimed Waves was a phrase coined by Harlem rapper Max B and tweeted a series of links to Max B’s tracks.
Later, Khalifa tweeted: “Hit this KK and become yourself”, which Khalifa then explained is his personal choice of marijuana. West believed the initials to refer to his reality-TV star wife Kim Kardashian, and launched a furious tirade.
West’s rant lasted around 30 tweets before they were deleted. In between making jibes at Khalifa’s former wife he also took the time out to credit his trousers, tweeting, “I went to look at your twitter and you were wearing cool pants” followed by, “I screen grabbed those pants and sent it to my style team #Wizwearscoolpants”. He also expressed a desire to be “skinny and tall” like Khalifa.
Katy Perry, who previously collaborated with West on her 2010 single "ET", tweeted West to tell him her favourite tweet in the rant was number eight: “I made it so we could wear tight jeans”.
Other high-profile tweeters couldn’t get enough of the feud either and provided their own thoughts on the spat.
West later acknowledged he had misinterpreted Khalifa’s tweet in a tweet that surprisingly hasn’t been deleted.
After deleting the majority of the evening’s tweets, the "Stronger" rapper signed off by spreading a message of “peace and positivity” before expressing his love for Khalifa.
