Justin Bieber ordered to pay $80,000 in damages after egging neighbour

Pop singer also told to undergo anger management sessions after January incident

Justin Bieber must undergo anger management sessions and pay $80,000 in damages for throwing eggs at his neighbour's house.

The singer was also ordered to stay away from the victim and his family for two years over what Deputy District Attorney Alan Yochelson said was an “extremely immature and silly act.”

A spokesperson for Bieber, who pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor vandalism charge but was not at the arraignment hearing in California, said the star was glad to have the matter resolved and behind him.

The singer's mansion was searched after the incident on 14 January.

Detectives later filed a search warrant to obtain images from Bieber's Instagram account to match them to surveillance footage taken from his home. A detective wrote that a person matching Bieber's description was seen high-fiving his friends after running toward a neighbor's home, but footage of the egg attack was not captured.

Bieber was not arrested during the search of his home, but his personal manager Xavier Domonique Smith was charged with felony drug possession. Smith pleaded no contest to felony possession of ecstasy and was sentenced to probation and a drug treatment program.

Prosecutors had considered felony charges because the damage was said to be more than $400, the threshold for a felony.

It's been a troubled year for the Baby singer, who faces two other cases in Florida and Toronto.

A Miami court has set a trial date this month for his driving under the influence case, which also includes charges that he resisted arrest without violence and was driving with an expired licence.

A preliminary toxicology report showed that Bieber tested positive for marijuana and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax after his arrest.

On 29 January, the singer turned himself in to Toronto authorities on a charge that he assaulted a limo driver in late December.

In June, he was forced to apologise after two videos emerged of him as a teenager making racist comments about black people, including using the N-word.
