Your support makes all the difference.Fans who were reportedly willing to fork out a whopping $2,000 to come face to face with their hero will be disappointed to learn that Justin Bieber has cancelled all future meet-and-greets because he feels “drained and unhappy” from other people’s “spiritual energy”.
The Canadian singer’s mammoth 114-show Purpose World Tour might have started just two weeks ago but Bieber has already had enough. The 22-year-old let fans down gently in a thesis-length Instagram post composed to his 62.6 million followers last night.
“Love u guys,” he wrote. “I'm going to be canceling my meet and greets. I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people's spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.”
“Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense,” he added. “And I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.”
According to Bieber the pressure of meeting fan’s expectations had ultimately become too much to bear. “Can't tell you how sorry I am, and wish it wasn't so hard on me. And I want to stay in the healthy mindset I'm in to give you the best show you have ever seen ;)”
The news will no doubt hit those “Bielebers” who have dedicated a good deal of their waking hours to worshipping their deity and making the pilgrimage to his mortgage priced meet-and-greets hardest.
But while Bieber might have blamed the decision to discontinue the meet-and-greets on his own emotional mindset and personal zen, the security company responsible for the meet-and-greets have appeared to take a rather different line.
Bkstg, the company that manages JB’s VIP ticket packages, announced the news on its website earlier on Tuesday, writing, “During a recent show, there was a security incident that caused our team to have to meet and re-think how meet and greets were handled”.
A representative for Bieber did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
