From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Katie Price's son Harvey has been praised after he responded to his bullies on Loose Women.

The 14-year-old, who is blind, autistic and suffers from Prader-Willi syndrome, swore when he was asked by his mother what he wanted to say to the bullies who had attacked him online.

Ms Price asked him: If someone says something horrible to Harvey, what does Harvey say?"

He responded: "Hello, you c**t."

The programme's producers were unable to censor the swear word before it was broadcast live.

Ms Price brought Harvey on to the programme as part of a discussion about internet trolls.

She has previously called for online trolls to appear on Loose Women and defend themselves.

She also named and shamed internet commentators who created cruel memes and left vile messages about her son.

Viewers praised how Harvey deals with internet trolls:

Ms Price hinted she had been doing "lots of stuff behind the scenes" and warned trolls who had targeted Harvey they should expect "a surprise coming up".

She added: "I know Harvey looks big and he could look intimidating, he's just got such a heart of gold. He wouldn't know how to hurt someone. He's all about love."
