Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle website Goop is a perpetual source of bemusement – from tips about vagina steaming to advice on the "importance of yawning".
Unsurprisingly then, a new recipe for a morning "smoothie” has caused a stir after people began pointing out that several of the ingredients don’t sound like real things.
Paltrow reportedly drinks one of the beverages every morning, "whether or not she’s detoxing". The recipe offers customisable options depending on what kind of day it is, eg. “Spirit Dust” ($65 for two ounces) “to get that extrasensory perception going”, “Brain Dust” ($55) to combat “mental fogginess”, and “Sex Dust” ($60) “for, you know".
Suffice to say, people aren't quite sure what to make of it.
The smoothie also requires one teaspoon each of obscure ingredients including maca, ashwagandha, ho shou wu and cordyceps.
Brit +Co crunched the numbers and worked out that the total cost of getting all the smoothie ingredients together would come to around $185. Not including the blender.
Paltrow told the website there was more to her morning routine than weird ingredients.
“This is an extremely basic version,” she said.
“You can put in bananas or berries. Sometimes I put in half of a sweet potato and make like a little pumpkin pie smoothie."
