At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Salling, 33, was indicted on charges of receiving and possessing images of child abuse. He has agreed to surrender himself on 3 June and will appear in a Los Angeles court.
Salling, who played Puck in Glee, was arrested in December after police seized a computer allegedly containing thousands of images.
The indictment does not mean he has been convicted of a crime, but director Adi Shankar has now dropped Salling from his forthcoming film Gods and Secrets, after previously stating his intention to wait and see if the allegations were proven to be true before deciding to drop him.
"Adi Shankar’s Gods and Secrets will be moving forward without Mark Salling,” he said in a statement. “He has been cut from the mini-series, I will personally be paying for the reshoots, and I hope that Mark finds inner peace.“
Salling’s representative could not be immediately reached for comment.
