From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It’s reassuring to know that celebrities are just like regular people. Yes, they might earn more, and yes they might get invited to fancy parties, but when they take a selfie they’re just as likely to have it ruined by some walking in the way, as Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber learned while in Ibiza with George Clooney.
Clooney was in Ibiza on ‘business’, albeit business which involved him launching his lucrative tequila brand, Casamigos, over into the Spanish market by throwing a massive party. He co-founded the venture with Gerber.
While there, Crawford took a romantic picture with the sun setting behind her when Clooney pulled a face and got in the way.
Still, having a globally-renowned handsome person photobombing you must make it slightly easier to deal with.
While it initially looked like the two were kissing, on further inspection it sort of looks like Gerber is just kissing the side of Crawford’s face, so you can add ‘awkward attempts at romance’ to the list of things celebrities are also good at.
Casamigos tequila was set up by Clooney, Gerber and ‘long time friend’ Mike Feldman, and the name translates to ‘House of Friends’, named after the property in Mexico that Clooney and Gerber share.
They launched it in the 2013, but initially made it for themselves, including friends and family.
But Gerber told Entertainment Tonight that they were 'forced' to start selling it to the public because the distillery was uncomfortable with them ordering 1,000 bottles a year for personal consumption.
