From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

His wife Vicky was quoted by The Mirror as saying her husband had not returned to their home in Andratx after going for a walk this morning, on the hottest day of the year.
A local police officer said the 81-year-old had not been formally reported missing but a search was being conducted in conjunction with Civil Guard officers.
The officer said the search would be widened if Mr Noakes did not return by this afternoon.
Andratx town hall put two pictures of Mr Noakes on its Facebook page.
A message read: "We asking for the public's help to find this missing man. He was wearing light blue shorts and a white and blue shirt. He is 81."
Mr Noakes joined Blue Peter in 1965 and became the programme's "action man". He left the show in 1978 and in 1982 set sail to travel the world, according to the BBC.
He and his wife were shipwrecked in a hurricane but set out again two years later and settled in Majorca.
