Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. You certainly can't accuse Ed Sheeran of not having a sense of humour – the "Thinking Out Loud" singer saw the funny side when a South Korean fan wrote to him to say he was a "little ugly".
However, there was a compliment in there.
"You are a little ugly but I love you!" the fan wrote in the letter, which Sheeran shared on his Instagram account.
The 24-year-old, who has just won two Brit Awards, captioned the post with the simple statement: "God bless Korea".
Sadly, he didn’t include a picture of the shirt that the fan had also sent with their message to the "great singer".
Sheeran is currently on the Asia leg of his world tour, which will bring him to the UK in July.
He also posted an image of the cheering audience in Seoul - perhaps the honest fan was somewhere in the crowd.
Last year Sheeran was named the most-listened-to act in the world on Spotify, while X became the best-selling album of 2014.
