Jolie travelled to Johannesburg with William Hague earlier this month to meet survivors of and campaigners against sexual violence, at a forum hosted by the British High Commissioner.

Speaking at the meeting, Jolie Pitt said: "There is a global epidemic of violence against women which can no longer be tolerated, and must be addressed.

"Every individual in society has a role to play in achieving this change."

The actress, director and humanitarian was introduced to the British royal family last October when the Queen made her an Honorary Dame Commander at Buckingham Palace for her campaign to end sexual violence in war-zones.
