The disgraced entertainer, who is serving a six year sentence for a string of sex attacks, was rushed from Stafford Prison to the nearby Royal Stoke University Hospital amid fears he was suffering a heart attack, according to a report by The Mirror.
His friend Vince Hill reportedly told the paper another friend who visits Harris regularly said the 85-year-old, who is diabetic, had "sort of over-dosed on chocolate”.
“According to him, that was the scale of the problem ... he didn’t know he was eating too much chocolate.”
The Mirror’s report claims Harris was being treated at a ward for infectious diseases in the hospital. It is not known if he is still receiving treatment.
Harris was convicted of indecently assaulting four young girls between 1968 and 1986. His youngest victim, who was just seven or eight-years-old, was assaulted after hoping to get an autograph from him.
A Prison Service spokesperson said: “We don’t comment on individuals.”
