BUCKINGHAM PALACE

29 October: The Queen held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

Her Majesty, Colonel-in-Chief of the Adjutant-General's Corps, this morning received Lieutenant-General Sir Jeremy Mackenzie (Colonel Commandant) and Lieutenant-Colonel John Churchill (Regimental Lieutenant-Colonel).

The Master of the Worshipful Company of Glovers (Mr John Wood) and the Past Master (Mr David Anderson) were received by The Queen, and presented Her Majesty with a gift of gloves to mark the Fortieth Anniversary of The Queen's Accession.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron and Trustee, today attended The Duke of Edinburgh's Award General Council in Sheffield.

Wing Commander Christopher Moran RAF was in attendance.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in- Chief, this evening attended a Reception given by the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers at St James's Palace.

Brigadier Miles Hunt-Davis was in attendance.

29 October: The Prince Edward, Trustee, today continued his attendance at the General Council of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.

Mrs Richard Warburton was in attendance.

His Royal Highness, Patron, this evening attended a Concert by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

The Prince Edward was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for the West Midlands (the Earl of Aylesford).

Lieutenant-Colonel Sean O'Dwyer was in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE

29 October: The Prince of Wales this morning visited HMS York (Captain Roy Clare RN).

Lieutenant-Commander Robert Fraser RN was in attendance.

His Royal Highness subsequently received the former Prime Minister of Thailand (Mr Anand Panyarachun) at Kensington Palace.

The Prince of Wales, Patron, Project Darc Star Territorial Army Everest Expedition, this evening gave a Reception at Kensington Palace.

Finally, His Royal Highness attended a Concert in aid of the London Oratory Appeal at the Brompton Oratory, London SW3.

Miss Belinda Harley was in attendance.

The Princess of Wales, Colonel- in-Chief, 13/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary's Own), this evening attended a Dinner at the Cavalry and Guards Club, 127 Piccadilly, London W1.

Miss Alexandra Loyd and Captain Edward Musto RM were in attendance.

29 October: The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon left Royal Air Force Northolt this morning for a visit to Brussels.

Her Royal Highness was present this evening at the Opening of The Comedy of Errors given by the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Theatre National as part of the 'Britain in Brussels' Festival.

The Hon Mrs Whitehead and Major The Lord Napier and Ettrick are in attendance.

29 October: The Duke of Gloucester, President, the British Consultants Bureau, this morning was present at the Annual General Meeting at the RAF Club, 128 Piccadilly, London W1.

In the afternoon The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Action on Smoking and Health, was present at a Reception at the Palace of Westminster, London SW1.

Major Nicholas Barne was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Queen presents a new Colour to the Royal Air Force Regiment at RAF Catterick. The Duke of Edinburgh, Chancellor, visits Cambridge University. The Prince of Wales opens the Wessex Water Combi Bio-Drier at Kingsweston Lane, Avonmouth, Bristol. The Prince of Wales, President, Cornwall Crafts Association, receives members of the Association. Princess Margaret, President of the Girl Guides Association, opens the new Bitton Guide and Brownie Headquarters at Bitton, Bristol. The Duke of Gloucester opens the new British Railway Service between Cardiff and Maesteg, South Glamorgan. Princess Alexandra, accompanied by Sir Angus Ogilvy, pays official visits to Trinidad and Tobago, St Vincent, Barbados, Grenada and St Lucia.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts The Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards mounts The Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Welsh Guards. .
