BUCKINGHAM PALACE

6 August: Mr David Tatham was received by The Queen and kissed hands upon appointment as Governor of the Falkland Islands, Commissioner for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, and High Commissioner for the British Antarctic Territories.

Mrs Tatham was also received by Her Majesty.

Mr John Edwards (British High Commissioner to Botswana) was received in audience by The Queen.

Mrs Edwards was also received by Her Majesty.

His Excellency Mr Mike Connor (British Ambassador at San Salvador) and Mrs Connor were received by The Queen.

The Viscount Goschen, Lord-in-Waiting, was present at Heathrow Airport, London, this afternoon on the Arrival of the Governor-General of the Bahamas and Lady Darling, and welcomed Their Excellencies on behalf of The Queen.

Colonel Robert Heywood-Lonsdale, Vice Lord-Lieutenant for Oxfordshire, was present at Royal Air Force Brize Norton this afternoon on the Departure of The Sultan of Oman, and bade farewell to His Majesty on behalf of Her Majesty.

HMY BRITANNIA

6 August: The Queen travelled to Portsmouth this afternoon and, having been received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Hampshire (Lieutenant-Colonel Sir James Scott Bt), embarked in HM Yacht Britannia and, escorted by HMS Brilliant (Captain James Nurnell-Nugent RN) sailed for Scotland.

The Lady Susan Hussey, the Right Hon Sir Robert Fellowes, Wing Commander David Walker RAF and Major James Patrick are in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE

6 August: The Prince of Wales this morning received the Minister for Housing and Planning (Sir George Young Bt MP) at Kensington Palace.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts The Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Irish Guards mounts The Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Grenadier Guards.
