8 October: The Queen was present at the Marriage of Viscount Linley and the Hon Serena Stanhope which was solemnised at St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey, this afternoon.

The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, The Princess of Wales, The Prince Edward, The Princess Royal and Commander Timothy Laurence RN, and Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy were also present.

8 October: The Princess Royal, President, Royal Yachting Association, this morning attended the Finals of the BT/RYA National Match Racing Championships, Pwllheli Sailing Club, Outer Harbour, Pwllheli, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord- Lieutenant for Gwynedd (Mr Meuric Rees).

CLARENCE HOUSE

8 October: Miss B. Leek today had the honour of being received by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother when Her Majesty, on behalf of The Queen, decorated her with the Royal Victorian Medal (Silver).

ST JAMES'S PALACE

8 October: The Prince of Wales today was present at a Sea Day in Istanbul on board HMY Britannia (Rear-Admiral Robert Woodard) organised by British Invisibles.

His Royal Highness this evening arrived at Dyce Airport, Aberdeen, from Istanbul.

Mr Stephen Lamport and Commander Robert Fraser RN were in attendance.

The Prince of Wales later attended a Dinner in aid of Cornerstone Community Care at Haddo House, Aberdeen, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire (Captain Colin Farquharson of Whitehouse).

Commander Robert Fraser RN was in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE

8 October: The Duchess of Gloucester was present this evening at a Dinner and Recital in aid of the Fan Museum, Greenwich, at the Royal Naval College, London SE10.

Miss Suzanne Marland was in attendance.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Minchinhampton Centre for the Elderly, attends a piano recital at Stroud Subscription Rooms, Stroud, Gloucestershire. The Duke of Gloucester, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, Royal Logistic Corps, attends the Lamb Trophy Military Skills Competition at the Princess Royal Barracks, Blackdown, Surrey. Prince Michael of Kent, Commodore, Royal Naval Auxiliary Service, attends the permanent staff lunch and conference on HMS Scotia, Pitreavie, Dunfermline, followed by dinner in the King Malcolm Hotel, Dunfermline.
