BUCKINGHAM PALACE

4 March: The Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Michael of Kent today visited British Aerospace Defence, Military Division, Warton, Lancashire.

Wing Commander Christopher Moran RAF and Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Christopher Thompson Bt were in attendance.

By command of The Queen the Viscount St Davids (Lord-in-Waiting) was present at Heathrow Airport, London, this evening upon the Departure of The Duke of Gloucester for Australia and bade farewell to His Royal Highness on behalf of Her Majesty.

4 March: His Excellency Monsieur Auguste Magba was received in audience by The Prince Edward on behalf of The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from the Central African Republic to the Court of St James's.

His Excellency was accompanied by the following member of the Embassy: Monsieur Germain Gresenguet (First Counsellor).

Madame Magba was also received by His Royal Highness.

Sir David Gillmore (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present and the Household-in- Waiting were in attendance.

His Royal Highness on behalf of Her Majesty this afternoon received Fellows participating in the Commonwealth Foundation Fellowship Scheme to promote Commonwealth Understanding.

Mr 'Inoke Faletau (Director of the Commonwealth Foundation) was present.

The Prince Edward, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this evening attended a Reception for the Young President's Organisation at St James's Palace.

Lieutenant-Colonel Sean O'Dwyer was in attendance.

4 March: The Princess Royal, President, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, this morning attended a Trustee Meeting at 81 Newgate Street, London EC1.

Her Royal Highness, Colonel in Chief, The Royal Logistics Corps, this afternoon received Major-General Colin Carrington upon assuming his appointment as Representative Colonel Commandant and Major-General David Burden, Director General Logistic Support (Army).

The Princess Royal this evening attended the Horse and Hound Annual Dinner and Ball, the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London W1.

Mrs Timothy Holderness- Roddam was in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE

4 March: The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, the Order of St John, this evening departed from Heathrow Airport to carry out engagements in Australia.

Upon arrival at Heathrow Airport His Royal Highness was received by the Australian High Commissioner (His Excellency Mr R. Smith), the Secretary-General of the Order of St John (Mr T. Everard) and the Director of Regions and Sales for British Airways (Mr J. Watson).

Major Nicholas Barne is in attendance.

The Duchess of Gloucester was present this evening at a Private View of 'The Great Age of British Watercolours 1750-1880' in aid of Research into Ageing at Royal Academy of Arts, Piccadilly, London W1.

Mrs Michael Wigley was in attendance.

THATCHED HOUSE LODGE

4 March: Princess Alexandra, President, this morning attended the Town and Country Meeting of the Children's Country Holidays Fund at Westminster Cathedral Hall, London SW1.

The Lady Mary Mumford was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Duke of Edinburgh visits Greater Manchester and opens the second International Terminal at Manchester Airport. The Princess Royal attends the Young Presidents' Organisation's International University for Presidents' Presentation at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London W1; and attends the Anglo-Finnish Round Table Conference at Ditchley Park, Oxfordshire. Prince Michael of Kent, Patron, Stroud Valleys Project, tours the work in hand.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion the King's Regiment mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the King's Regiment.
