BUCKINGHAM PALACE

21 July: The Queen held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The Right Hon John Major MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of Her Majesty this evening.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were entertained at Dinner this evening by the Officers of The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeoman of the Guard at St James's Palace and were received by the Captain (the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne).

The Duchess of Grafton and Mr Robin Janvrin were in attendance.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel-in-Chief, today visited The Queen's Royal Irish Hussars in Fallingbostel, Germany.

His Royal Highness this afternoon arrived at Heathrow Airport, London.

Brigadier Miles Hunt-Dvis was in attendance.

21 July: The Prince Edward, Chairman, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Special Projects Group, this afternoon attended a presentation to mark the appointment of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Photographer in Residence at the Lanesborough Hotel, 1 Lanesborough Place, London SW1.

ST JAMES'S PALACE

21 July: The Prince of Wales, Patron, this evening attended the Royal Tournament at Earl's Court, Warwick Road, London SW5. Commander Robert Fraser RN was in attendance.

KENSINGTON PALACE

21 July: The Princess of Wales, Patron, the Natural History Museum Development Trust, this morning visited the scientific departments of the musuem, Cromwell Road, London SW7.

Captain Edward Musto RM was in attendance.

21 July: Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester today visited the East of England Show, Peterborough, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire (Mr James Crowden).

Dame Jean Maxwell-Scott was in attendance.

The Duke of Gloucester this evening was present at a Reception given by the Corporation of London to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force, at Guildhall, London EC2.

Major Nicholas Barne was in attendance.

YORK HOUSE

21 July: The Duke of Kent, Patron, the Tank Museum, this morning opened the British Defence Industries Hall at the Tank Museum, Royal Armoured Corps Centre, Bovington, Dorset.

His Royal Highness, Patron, British Menswear Guild, this afternoon visited Reynolds and Kent Limited, The Oak, Warminster Road, Westbury, Wiltshire, and was met by Her Majesty's Lord- Lieutenant for Wiltshire (Field Marshal Sir Roland Gibbs).

Captain the Honourable Tom Coke was in attendance.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Cricket Club Conference, attends a cricket match between the Cricket Club Conference and the Australian Services Touring XI at Brentwood Cricket Club, Brentwood, Essex. The Princess Royal, President, the Royal Smithfield Club, attends a Luncheon and Council Meeting at Butchers' Hall, London EC1; and, as President, Save the Children Fund, holds a Special Gifts Dinner at Buckingham Palace for Save the Children Fund's 75th Anniversary Appeal. Princess Margaret, President, The Royal Ballet, attends a performance by the Royal Ballet School at Holland Park Open Air Theatre, London W8. The Duchess of Gloucester visits the East of England Show at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. Princess Alexandra, Vice-Patron, opens the Young Women's Christian Association Hostel for Homeless Girls, Nottingham; and later opens the the new extension to the Medical Research Council's Institute of Hearing Research at Nottingham University.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Scots Guards.
