5 January: By command of the Queen, Sir Ashley Ponsonby Bt (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Oxfordshire) was present at Royal Air Force Brize Norton this morning upon the Departure of The King and Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and bade farewell to Their Majesties on behalf of Her Majesty.

5 January: Princess Alexandra, Vice- Patron of the Young Women's Christian Association of Great Britain, this afternoon received Mrs Eileen Dingwall-Smith upon retiring as President and Mrs Jenny Cooper on assuming this appointment.

ROYAL ENGAGEMENTS

The Princess Royal, President, Royal Yachting Association, opens the 1993 London International Boat Show at Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London SW5. The Princess Royal, Master, the Worshipful Company of Loriners, holds a dinner at Buckingham Palace for Court Members.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Grenadier Guards.
