BUCKINGHAM PALACE

19 May: The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe this morning visited the Confederation of British Industry, Centre Point, New Oxford Street, London WC1, for the Zimbabwe Trade and Investment Conference and was received by Sir Michael Angus (Deputy President), the President of the Board of Trade (the Right Hon Michael Heseltine MP) and the Mayor of Camden (Councillor William Budd).

Afterwards His Excellency was entertained to Luncheon by Mr Howard Davies (Director-General).

The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe this afternoon visited Stonor and was received by her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Oxfordshire (Sir Ashley Ponsonby Bt) and the Lord and Lady Camoys.

His Excellency viewed the Zimbabwean Stone Sculpture Exhibition in the grounds and was subsequently entertained to tea by the Lady Camoys.

The Queen received His Excellency Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the Commonwealth Secretary General.

Mr Gavin Hewitt was received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon his appointment as Her Majesty's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Croatia.

Mrs Hewitt was also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen was entertained to Luncheon with the Members of the Executive Committee of the Army Board at the Officers' Mess, The King's Troop, St John's Wood, London NW8, and was received by the Chief of the General Staff (General Sir Charles Guthrie).

The Lady Elton, the Right Hon Sir Robert Fellowes and Lieutenant-Colonel Blair Stewart-Wilson were in attendance.

This afternoon Her Majesty visited HMS Cottesmore, West India Docks, London E14, and was received by Lieutenant- Commander The Duke of York RN (Commanding Officer).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were entertained by The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe this evening at a Banquet at Claridge's, London W1.

The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Satra Footwear Technology Centre, Kettering, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Northamptonshire (Mr John Lowther).

His Royal Highness later visited Eismann International UK Limited, Corby.

The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards attended a Luncheon at the Festival Hall, Corby.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Game Conservancy Trust, this afternoon visited the Allerton Research and Educational Trust at Loddington and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Leicestershire (Mr Timothy Brooks).

19 May: The Princess Royal this morning arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from Washington, the United States of America.

Her Royal Highness, President, Animal Health Trust, later attended the Industry Committee Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

The Princess Royal, President, the Rural Housing Trust, this afternoon opened the English Village Housing Association Schemes at Mill Fields, Abberton Road, Layer-de-la-Haye, and at Barnfield, off Furneaux Lane, Fingringhoe, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Essex (the Lord Braybrooke).

Her Royal Highness, President, Save the Children Fund, subsequently attended the Seventy-Fifth Birthday Tea Party Celebration at Berni Spain Gardens, Coin Street, Gabriel Wharf, London SE1.

The Princess Royal, President, Save the Children Fund, this evening attended a Birthday Reception for the Fund's Council and Assembly Members at Coutts and Company, 440 Strand, London WC2.

19 May: The Prince of Wales, Patron, the Museum of Garden History: the Tradescant Trust, this afternoon opened 'The Painted Garden' Exhibition at Lambeth Road, London SE1.

19 May: The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon today visited the Devon County Show at Westpoint, Clyst St Mary, Exeter.
