Conrad Hilton has been ordered to attend rehabilitation for substance abuse, avoiding jail after being arrested twice within four months last year and violating his probation.
The 21-year-old hotel heir was spared jail by the Los Angeles judge, despite calls from authorities to put him behind bars for 60 days, according to the City News Service.
Authorities argued Mr Hilton had violated his probation by trespassing, failing drug tests, and leaving California without approval from his probation officer. He had also failed to complete three treatment programs.
The brother of Paris and Nicky Hilton was arrested last February and sentenced to probation and community service for threatening passengers and crew during a British Airways flight. He smoked marijuana in the plane bathroom and reportedly threatened to kill one flight attendant. After the incident he voluntarily checked into rehab.
In June Mr Hilton was arrested again for allegedly violating a restraining order put in place by ex-girlfriend Hunter Salomon after he broke into her house.
Ms Salomon is the daughter of Rick Salomon, Paris Hilton’s partner in her infamous sex tape, 1 Night in Paris.
The family is currently mourning the loss of Monty Brinson, Paris Hilton’s uncle, who died of cancer at the age of 58 on 25 January.
