The internet is known for coming down heavily on something it disagrees with, as those in the public eye often find out, meaning posts are often there and then suddenly gone.

Chloe Grace Moretz’s account is the latest to have pulled an innocuous image down after coming under a hail of criticism.

The actress, 19, shared a picture of herself on a beach where her bikini tie was not visible. Only her back could be seen in the photo credited to her budding photographer boyfriend, Brooklyn Beckham.

Despite this, the teenager’s photo sparked a debate over whether she was being “hypocritical” with the image in light of her questioning of Kim Kardashian’s nude selfie. A number of people reposted a tweet about the selfie under her image: “I truly hope you realise how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.”

“She clearly has her top off. She's such a hypocrite,” wrote one. “Hypocritical of her to post a topless picture after criticising Kim Kardashian, I mean sure Kim's was more revealing but still.”

“She has every right too, but I think it's hypocritical of her when she preached so much about someone else doing it.”

A number came out in Moretz’s defence in exasperated comments about how different each image is. Moretz has not commented publically on the reaction but the image has since been deleted.

Representatives for Moretz did not respond to a request for comment.
