From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

“Marc and I are overwhelmed with gratitude and love as we celebrate the birth of our son, Aidan Clinton Mezvinsky,” the former first daughter said on social media.
Aidan is Ms Clinton’s second child, after she gave birth to Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky in September 2014.
Her mother and the presidential candidate is often asked about Charlotte at political events, and she has said several times that “FaceTime was invented for grandparents”.
She recently said at a rally in Santa Barbara, California: “Until it happened to me, I just could not understand the impact. It is truly like falling in love all over again. There is nothing like it.”
The grandparents said they are “overjoyed” about the new addition to the family.
“We are overjoyed to be grandparents again with the arrival of our grandson, Aidan Clinton Mezvinsky, born on Saturday, June 18, 2016,” said Bill and Hillary Clinton in a statement.
“We are all over the moon as Chelsea and Marc welcome Charlotte's little brother to the world and grateful for our many blessings. Chelsea and Aidan are both doing well and enjoying this very special time together.”
Chelsea Clinton is the vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, a nonprofit set up by her father to improve global health, and she tends to keep her personal life private.
She married Marc Mezvinsky in 2010. He is the son of two former members of congress, and works in investment management in Manhattan.
“We thought maybe we'd have a little bit more time, but she [Hillary Clinton] already talks about wanting more grandchildren,” Chelsea Clinton told TODAY last September.
