From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Caitlyn Jenner has said that she is still comfortable with her children calling her "dad" following her transition.

A picture of Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine has gone viral in the last few days, and people across the world have commended her for her bravery.

A source speaking to People magazine said that Caitlyn has approached each of her children and told them that she's happy for them to keep calling her "dad" for the time being, as they get used to her transition.

The source said: "Caitlyn has been really understanding that it doesn't come naturally for anyone. No one expects this change to happen overnight. If one of the boys slips up, it's not a big deal."

Caitlyn has six children, two from each of her three marriages. She also has four stepchildren, from her marriage to Kris Jenner - Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob Kardashian.

Some of the Kardashian children, especially Khloe, took the news that Caitlyn was transitioning quite hard, as Caitlyn revealed in her famous interview with Diane Sawyer.

However, she has since said that all of her children have showed their support and love for her in the past few months.

Caitlyn, who was born as William Bruce Jenner, is well-known for her sporting prowess, winning a gold medal in decathlon at the 1976 Olympics when she still identified as a man.

Due to her sporting fame, and her courage to come out as transgender, she will be honoured with an Arthur Ashe Courage Award, an award given during the ESPY awards, a yearly ceremony held by American sports channel ESPN that recognises notable athletes.

She is also due to star in I Am Cait, a documentary covering her gender transition. It will debut on 26 July on the E! network.
