From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The guitarist for 5 Seconds of Summer showed he was a true showman by taking to the stage last night after being burnt by pyrotechnics while performing on Saturday.
Michael Clifford's hair was set alight after he walked too close to the pyrotechnic flames on stage at their Wembley concert on the weekend.
The 19-year-old was seen on video clutching a towel to his face. Although the concert was cut short, Clifford took to Twitter to let his fans know that he was well afterwards.
They reformed last night to perform in London again after Clifford will was given the all-clear from doctors. Despite posting an image on Twitter showing half of his face covered, Clifford performed without any bandages.
A spokesman for the Australian pop group said yesterday: “Michael is recovering well after being given the all-clear by doctors. He will join the band on stage tonight at the SSE Arena for their third and final London show.”
The spokesman continued: “Michael and the band would like to thank all the fans, well wishers and particularly last night’s audience for their support. There will be no pyrotechnic production for the show this evening.”
