Polly Platt, who died on 27 July aged 72, was nominated for an Oscar for art direction for Terms of Endearment and went on to produce several su1ccessful films.

Platt starting working in films with her husband, the writer-director Peter Bogdanovich, who she met while working as a set designer. She continued after they divorced in 1971 and went on to produce Broadcast News, War of the Roses and Say Anything through a long collaboration with James L Brooks and Gracie Films.
