Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Former BBC Radio 1 breakfast host Zoe Ball is to present a Saturday morning show on Radio 2, it was announced today.

Ball, who was the first female DJ to present the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show in 1998, will front her new show from 6 June between 6am and 8am.

She joked: "It's funny to be back on the early shift after almost 10 years since Radio 1 but, after becoming a mum, I'm much more of a morning person these days! I promise!"

Meanwhile, Emma Forbes will launch a Sunday morning early breakfast show on 7 June between 5am and 7am on Radio 2.

Richard Allinson will present a new overnight show on the station at weekends, from 6 June.

Bob Shennan, controller, Radio 2, said: "Zoe, Richard and Emma are fantastic additions to the Radio 2 weekend schedule.

"They are warm, entertaining presenters who have many years of broadcasting experience between them, and I look forward to their shows becoming essential listening for all early risers."
