From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

First Time Voters' Question Time will also include Higher Education Minister David Lammy, shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt, Liberal Democrat local government spokeswoman Julia Goldsworthy and political satirist Rory Bremner on the panel, announced today.
Hosted by X-Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary, the one-off BBC3 show will be filmed in front of an audience of first-time voters and broadcast live from London's Canary Wharf at 8pm tomorrow.
O'Leary said: "After recent events, it seems politicians from all parties have got their work cut out for them to win over the trust of the electorate and especially first-time voters.
"I really hope we can answer a lot of the questions that first-time voters have and help engage the policy-makers of tomorrow."
Ed Havard, editor of Question Time and First Time Voters' Question Time, said: "This is a unique programme and an important piece of public service broadcasting in the current context.
"We are pleased to have secured panellists who can debate some of the issues of greatest concern to first-time voters."
Campbell was the first winner of the Apprentice and has since left Amstrad to set up the Bright Ideas Trust, which helps youngsters to start up in business.
Jamelia is also an ambassador for the Prince's Trust.
