This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

Piers Morgan has quit the show that made his reputation in the USA and launched him to international stardom.
Having already stepped down as a judge on Britain's Got Talent because of his commitments in the US, he has now quit as a judge on America's Got Talent to concentrate on his programme Piers Morgan Tonight.
America's Got Talent is broadcast by NBC while his chatshow series is on CNN, which raised questions when he took over from Larry King as to how long his new bosses would tolerate him appearing for a rival channel. Among the factors he cited in his decision to call time on the talent show is that the US is heading into a presidential election in 2012.
He said yesterday as he announced his departure from the talent show that he had found that juggling the two commitments was harder than he had expected.
On his chatshow programme he announced: "I've loved every single second, but discovered that juggling, to my surprise really is a bit more difficult than I thought."
He also used Twitter to explain the move. "I'm leaving America's Got Talent after six wonderful years," he wrote. "Turned out that juggling's harder than it looks, so I'm going to focus on CNN."
He added: "It's been a blast."
