Stefano Hatfield has been appointed Executive Editor of The Independent, with special responsibility for i. He will work to Simon Kelner, editor-in-chief of The Independent and i, and will start on November 1.

Simon Kelner said today: ‘I am delighted to appoint Stefano, who is a major addition to our senior team. Stefano will be responsible for i, and his energy and experience will be vital in building on what has been a tremendously successful launch.’

Stefano Hatfield is a former editor of Campaign magazine, and was the launch editor of the londonpaper.
