THE hunt for a chairman of the Press Complaints Commission to replace Lord McGregor is coming to a head.
The shortlist of six candidates comprises academics, retired politicians and former senior civil servants. Not one is a lawyer, despite the two withering reports on press standards framed for the Government by Sir David Calcutt QC, who recommended that a legal tribunal should replace the system of self-regulation.
