TWO weeks ago we reported on the beleagured Charles Denton, head of BBC Drama, who is attempting to find new hits to rival ITV. Nick Elliott, 50, managing director of LWT Productions responsible for Poirot, London's Burning and The Knock, has now been recruited as head of series. Mr Elliott, 50, wants the BBC to go for more popular hits, though we can expect little before 1996.
