IF THE amount of junk mail counts as a green shoot, the recovery is well under way, the Direct Mail Information Service's latest figures show. After a fall to 1,435 million items in 1991, last year 1,658 million were sent to consumers. Surprisingly, the figures show only a third of us manage to chuck the stuff away unread.
