Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Independent Magazine has won five Awards of Excellence in the Society of News Design’s prestigious annual Best of News Design Competition. The Magazine won against competition from all over the world in the following categories: Cover Design (two awards); Cover Story Design (two awards); Magazine Designer Portfolio (one award). The issues marking the centenary of the First World War and covering Travel were especially successful.

Editor of the Independent Amol Rajan added: “This is a superb and richly deserved tribute to our Magazine Art Director Kevin Bayliss, and the entire Magazine team, including Will Dean as Editor, Sam Muston as Deputy Editor, Production Editor Madeleine North, Picture Editor Annalee Mather, and writer Oscar Quine. Once again we have shown we can take on the best in the world and win.”

The competition invites entries from all magazines and general circulation newspapers — daily or non-daily, broadsheet or tabloid, traditional or alternative — published anywhere in the world.

Separately, the Society of Publication Design has also given The Independent Magazine a merit award for The School Issue.
