From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

On the morning of April 7 "#NowPlaying" is still fixed in the top spot on Twitter's most talked about topics list. The continually popular term is used to share the names of songs and movies people are listening to while posting on the microblogging site.

"#ThisIsMyDream" is in second place on the charts this morning as people use their 140 characters to express their dreams and hopes.

My dream is to: "eat anything without fear of being fat," "have a debut album," "have a house like a castle," and "make my parents proud of me" say Twitter users.

"Ever feel like"... "Crocs shoes should only be worn if you're working for a hurricane relief effort," "the one guy you want will never want you back," or "a relationship is kinda over but u still want the person in your life so you try to keep it alive?" ask microbloggers using the "EverFeelLike" hashtag to see if there is anyone else in the Twittersphere feeling the same way they do.

Twitter is abuzz with people talking about the web-based royalty-free image company iStockphoto. The user-generated stock image site is offering prizes to people who tweet about the company on Twitter in celebration of its 10th birthday. The high volume of competition-related tweets have resulted in "#iStock10" reaching the fourth position in Twitters trending topics.

The top 10 most talked about topics on Twitter on April 7 at 09:30 AM GMT are:
