This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

The "Irefuseto" hashtag is the most talked about topic on Twitter on the morning of March 3.

Microbloggers are sharing the things they refuse to do, believe, understand or take part in. "I refuse to: "understand why people walk slowly in city centers. I just don't get it. If you want to walk slow GO TO A PARK!", "sit around and mope and sob over a relationship that didn't work out, life goes on even after they gone" or "let the snow get in the way of my plans," say Twitter users.

Indonesian teenagers are using the term "Yang Anak Indonesia" ("The Indonesian kids" in English) in their tweets this morning, making the term the second most talked about topic on Twitter.

"#Troublemaker" is in third place while "#UNotFromTheHoodif" measures up at number four.

"RT cuma 10 menit" (or "RT just for 10 minutes" in English) sits at number five on the charts, just above teenage Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber.

Chile is back in Twitter's most talked about topics as the Twittersphere retweets pieces of NASA's "Chilean Quake May Have Shortened Earth Days" article. Scientists believe that the 8.8 magnitude earthquake may have shortened our days by about 1.26 microseconds and displaced the Earth's axis by about 8 centimeters.

The top 10 most talked about topics on Twitter on March 3 at 9:30 AM GMT are:
