The names of Tiger Woods and Michelle Obama are the most searched for topics for the week on Google Insights on the morning of December 2.

Controversy surrounding Tiger Woods' November 27 car crash and the appearance of a picture of Michelle Obama morphed with an ape at the top of Google Images' search results has resulted in both celebrities' names gaining top positions on Google Insights on December 2.

Terms used to search for Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping deals are also still appearing in Google's Insights lists on Wednesday.

During the week, people have been searching for the names of the biggest department stores and chains in the US. Searchers were trawling the internet to find out the best in-store and online discounts during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping days that have become popular events on the US retail calendar.

Dubai has also entered into Google's list of trending topics on December 2. Dubai's outstanding debt problem caused stock markets to drop during the week of November 23 and resulted in increased searches for Dubai.

The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days as measured by Google Insights, recorded on December 2 at 9:30 AM GMT are:

3. black friday deals (+250%)
4. google wave (+170%)
5. kohls (+80%)
6. dubai (+80%)
7. best buy (+70%)
8. black friday (+60%)
