The name of Michelle McGee reached the number one position on Google Insights on March 22 while the name of Sandra Bullock's husband, Jesse James, is sitting at number three.
The search term "NCAA Bracket" (National Collegiate Athletic Association) is at number two on the charts as the US college basketball phenomenon known as March Madness takes hold.
Searches for "Rediffmail" have also increased this week. Rediffmail is a free email service popular with Indian consumers.
The email service is provided by Rediff.com India Ltd., an internet portal that describes itself as "India's leading website for the latest news and videos in India including Political News, Bollywood News & Movies, Indian Cricket News & Scores."
The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days as measured by Google Insights, recorded on March 22 at 9:30 AM GMT are:
1. michelle mcgee (Breakout)
2. ncaa bracket (+850%)
3. jesse james (+800%)
4. rediffmail (+160%)
5. gamezer (+40%)
6. e-okul (+40%) (e-learning in Turkish)
7. e okul (+40) (e-learning in Turkish)
*Breakout defines a search term that has experienced a change in growth greater than 5000 percent.
