Australia's richest race, the Melbourne Cup, is the most searched for topic on the morning of November 5.

The prestigious race took place in Melbourne, Australia on November 3.

In Melbourne and other areas within the Australian state of Victoria there is a public holiday held on the first Tuesday of November to coincide with the race. However it is also common for many Australians not living in the state of Victoria to stop work for a few minutes to ensure they don't miss the "celebration that stops the nation."

On November 3 hearts raced on the sideline and next to TVs and radios across the nation as Australian-bred Shocking galloped past Irish contender Crime Scene in a last minute dash for the finish line.

The German mail-order company, Quelle.de, continues to be a high-ranking search term on Google as consumers head online to purchase heavily discounted goods during the business's last ever sale.

The Quelle sale started on November 1 with the bankrupt company hoping to deplete its inventory of clothes, shoes and accessories both online and in physical stores across Germany. Goods were selling for up to 30 percent off.

Customers continue to head to the German site, located at quelle.de, to make sure they don't miss out on their last chance to purchase goods from the historic company.

Quelle will continue to offer their inventory at reduced prices until stocks are depleted.

The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide within the last seven days as measured by Google Insights, recorded on November 5 at 6:00 AM GMT are:

1. melbourne cup 2009 (+1,300%)
2. quelle.de (+350%)
