Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jurgen Klopp has certainly brought an added edge of entertainment to the Premier League and his Liverpool side seems to have bought into his pressing philosophy. However, the results have not been going his way, with his side leaking six goals already this season - the joint highest in the league alongside Stoke City and Watford.
As for Leicester, it was almost an impossible task for Claudio Ranieri's team to replicate their fairytale season this campaign, especially considering the way other teams have spent money to strengthen their squads. However, the Foxes have done well to keep the majority of their title-winning team at the club, including star striker Jamie Vardy and talisman midfielder Riyad Marhez. It would come as no surprise to anyone if Ranieri's men were to snatch a result at Anfield.
It’s a big game for…
Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian midfielder had an outstanding season last campaign, attracting the attention of many clubs around the word, including Arsenal and Barcelona.
However, he looks set to stay put at Leicester for the immediate future and has had a mixed start to the season. He scored from the spot in Leicester's opening game but has not produced any further contribution in terms of goals and assists since.
It will be interesting to see if Mahrez can reach the same heights as he did last season.
Best stat…
Leicester City have only beaten Liverpool twice in their past 10 meetings. One of the victories came last season as Leicester defeated Liverpool 2-0 on their way to the Premier League title, the other was way back in 2001 when Leicester beat Liverpool 2-0 at home.
Remember when…
Jamie Vardy nearly broke the back of the net with the screamer against Liverpool at the King Power stadium last season.
The goal marked Vardy's 17th Premier League goal of the season. He would go on to score a total of 24 league goals and guide Leicester to the title.
Player to watch…
Philippe Coutinho. When he is not injured, Coutinho is clearly one of the best technical players the league has to offer, up there with David Silva, Eden Hazard and Mesut Ozil.
The Brazilian midfielder assisted Neymar for Brazil's second goal in their 2-1 victory over South American rivals Colombia on Wednesday. He has also made a mark in the Premier League this season, scoring twice in three appearances, including a superb curling free-kick against Arsenal.
Past three meetings…
Leicester City 2 (Vardy 2), Liverpool 0, Premier League, February 2016.
Liverpool 1 (Benteke), Leicester City 0, Premier League, December 2015.
Liverpool 2 (Gerrard 2), Leicester City 2 (Nugent, Schlupp), Premier League, January 2015.
