The incident occurred after the referee had consulted him before sending off the United goalkeeper. He came round on the way to hospital; a man in a United replica shirt was arrested.

There was an upset in the Premiership when Manchester United lost at home to Leicester City, while Bath beat Brive to win rugby union's European Cup.
