Punishment: Rare French-trained Lincoln runner. Now seven and open to little improvement. Soft would help.
Gulf Shaadi: Looked the type for this race when scoring over Newmarket's straight mile in October. Should be fit after runaway win on all-weather.
Right Wing: Winner twice on soft ground for Dick Hern. Could develop into a useful performer for John Dunlop.
Solar Storm: Won last three starts, all over a mile, and still lightly raced. Trained for the race, he has leading claims.
Silca Blanka: Has been at stud since last ran in 1996.
Hunters Of Brora: Placed in her third Cambridgeshire when filling third place behind Pasternak in October. An extra furlong might be needed.
Kala Sunrise: Has scored only twice in his entire career but has an each- way chance given his fifth in this race last year.
Lionize: Won three of last four starts in 1997, the latest on Boxing Day, and seems transformed by blinkers.
Albert The Bear: Best at seven furlongs.
Consort: Won 28-runner handicap over a mile at Newmarket last autumn and races off just a 3lb higher mark here.
Saifan: Too long in the tooth.
Hajr: Fared badly on last two runs but gelded since and will be suited by strongly-run mile.
Rock Falcon: Must have soft ground and refused to race on two occasions last season.
Sharp Rebuff: Not good enough at these weights.
Rapier: Has a squeak on third in Britannia Handicap.
Ginzbourg: Has not run since last July.
Young Precedent: Scored twice over seven furlongs last season and may struggle to last home.
Almuhimm: Three wins over seven furlongs. Inconsistent.
King Of Tunes: Lively long-shot on his fifth in Golden Mile at Goodwood. Has twice won first time out in the past.
Nomore Mr Niceguy: Second on his first run for five months a fortnight ago and runs off 6lb lower mark here. Big chance on that all-weather form.
Duraid: Won in big field over a mile. Has outside chance.
La Modiste: Sure to have been well prepared by Gay Kelleway and cannot be ruled out.
Conclusion: SOLAR STORM is the one horse with pretensions to better-class races and goes well when fresh.
