Public Services Management Update: Job fears

Some 50,000 local government workers could lose their jobs next year if the Treasury's spending controls over councils are as severe as expected, says the Association of Metropolitan Authorities. Three per cent of council workers lost their jobs in the last year; the AMA fears that could rise to 6 per cent in the next 12 months.
