Driver clubs man for not saying 'thank you'
A pedestrian may lose the sight in one eye after a motorist who slowed to let him cross the road clubbed him with an iron bar for not saying "thank you".
Police said the "absolutely appalling" attack on the 31-year-old man in West Derby, Merseyside, by a skinhead was totally unprovoked.
The man was waiting to cross the road on Friday when a black Cavalier slowed down for him.
He crossed, but when he failed to say "thank-you" the furious driver got out of the car and hit him twice, on the back and in the face, with a scaffolding pole.
He screamed: "Next time say thank you", before getting back in his car and driving off.
The pedestrian's cheekbone was broken in three places; he suffered severe cuts and bruising and has been warned he could lose the sight in his right eye.
Police are looking for a fair-haired, 6ft skinhead aged between 25 and 30.
