Twelve people have been arrested following a police investigation into child abuse. Seven children, aged between four months and eight years from two households have been taken into emergency care as a result of the inquiry.

Police made the arrests early yesterday morning in Portsmouth and Aldershot, Hampshire. About 50 police officers, accompanied by teams of social workers, took part. Three women and nine men were detained and were taken to four police stations for questioning.."
