Davies wins Welsh Assembly ballot

The Welsh Secretary, Ron Davies, won the Wales Labour Party ballot to become prospective First Minister of the Welsh Assembly next year. Mr Davies beat Rhodri Morgan, the backbench MP for Cardiff West, by 68.22 per cent to 31.78 per cent.
