Cop's wife 'fakes home robbery and tries to blame Black Lives Matter'
Police said that as they continued their probe into the reported break-in, they suspected something was amiss

Something did not feel “quite right”.
Those were the words of Police Chief Donald Desourcy after officers were called to a break-in at the home of a Massachusetts officer whose wife claimed thieves had ransacked her home and sprayed Black Lives Matter on her wall.
Now, Maria Daly, wife of officer Daniel Daly, is facing changes of filing a false police report after officers determined she had concocted a story about losing $10,000 in jewelry and spray-painted the slogan in order to pin the blame on black people.

“We woke up to not only our house being robbed while we were sleeping, but to see this hatred for no reason,” she posted on social media, according to the Boston Herald.

“If you asked me yesterday about this blue lives and black lives matter issue my response would have been very positive.”
She added: “Today on the other hand I have so much anger and hate that I don’t like myself. This is what we have to deal with these days and it makes me sick that this is what was on the side of my house.”
The Dillbury police chief, Mr Desourcy, said that as the investigation into the October 17 incident played out, things did not make sense. Ms Daly later admitted she fabricated the story, he said.

“I think that was pretty obvious and as a result of that investigation, the officers did their due diligence and followed through with the investigation that we had,” he said. “Basically we came to the conclusion that it was all fabricated. There was no intruder, there was no burglary.”
The chief said the hoax was likely motivated by the couple’s financial troubles
“I’m very familiar with her and it’s an unfortunate set of circumstances that have taken place,” he said.
Ms Daly faces charges of filing a false police report and misleading a police investigation.
