Theresa May has said her “thoughts are with the residents” being evacuated from the five Camden Tower blocks.
The Prime Minister who is currently in Brussels for Brexit negotiations took to Twitter to express her sympathies.
“My thoughts are with residents being evacuated in Camden while their homes are made safe tonight,” she said via her official UK Prime Minister account.
“We will work with and support the emergency services and relevant authorities to safeguard the public.”
She added that she has asked Communities Secretary Sajid Javid to keep her regularly updated and “ensure we are offering every support we can to residents & those working onsite.”
Ms May was forced to apologise for the Grenfell Tower fire, which claimed the lives of 79 people.
Speaking to MPs after the queen’s speech, May said the government failed to provide adequate support to survivors of the blaze during the early hours of 14 June.
She was personally criticised for failing to meet victims and residents on the day after the blaze, choosing instead to meet with emergency service crews. She also blocked media access.
When she did eventually meet them, she was met by shouts of "stand down" and "resign" as she left the meeting.
