REG VARDY, the acquisitive motor dealer based in Sunderland, has bought a further 12 dealerships in the west of Scotland, North-east England, Yorkshire, the Midlands and the South-east from Caledonia Motor for pounds 18.8m.

In the six months to 31 October Vardy sold 66,715 cars - an increase of 32 per cent - and lifted the value of sales by 38 per cent to pounds 567m and pre-tax profits by 46 per cent to pounds 12.3m.
