Unilever reduced its bid for Helene Curtis, the US shampoo company, by 10 per cent after it had completed its due diligence process. The Persil and Flora consumer products giant had originally offered $78 a share, or $874m for the company. It later reduced that offer to $70, or $770 (pounds 488m) after it had reviewed the group's financial records.
